Prayer

by Johanna May

One day you will no longer exist
Because hate doesn't
There won't be a day for you
Because nobody knows you

You vanished.

No one feels full, no one feels well
And it is not a bad thing,
No children smiles,
There is no longer a word
For a frown

It cannot be seen anymore,
Smile is just a face you wear everyday.

And you LOVE,
Your saints will retire.
You will fade into everything
And you will be happy to go.

I feel like I almost get it, but not quite. Intriguing enough for several re-reads. My favorite line - "Your saints will retire". Thanks for this.

I like the acknowledgment that everything requires contrast in order to be perceived. It's an interesting read, certainly. And I agree with Kristina, that's a brilliant line.
