The Perfect Poem

by Chris Sorrenti

Everywhere I see walking skeletons
skin tight the perfect bods
no hint of purging to obtain
no mention on TV
starvation to gain that
ubiquitous high fashion look

Karen Carpenter appearing radiant
on decades old videos
cheek bones prominent for impressionable youth
if it were possible
I'd like to give her a piece of my
400 calorie banana cream pie

Years ago I accepted the fact I'd never be tall
my teeth have gaps in them
perfect women shun this reject
from the mass hypnotic mold
but I'm happy being just who I am
somewhere in the upper reaches
on an imperfect scale of 1 to 10
