Teutoburg (Historical Nursery Rhyme)

by Leonard M Hawkes

Caesar came a-marching
Through the northern woods;
Trusting he’d bought Germans
With his Roman goods.
But Hermann and his Teutons
Waited in the trees,
And what was left of Caesar--
Crawled out on its knees.

Ha! I enjoyed the form and succinct story telling. Very interesting challenge.
