Flash Flood by Kristina WoodhillA horrid morning
To be the neighbor's outside cat
Idaho south easterly
Up early and hard at work
Flapping at our own cat door,
Daring anyone to answer
Rain coursing and cursing,
Gutterless,
Down west bedroom window
Like mad men
Streaking to grab
This week's
Trending market
Rushing and pushing,
Wet and sweaty;
Shouldering overworked words,
Smearing clever graphics
Like long-tailed semen
Heading straight down
To no opening;
There will be no break-throughs today
Like some splatter artist
En plein air,
Monochromatic,
Monodirectional,
Dismissive of gallery viewing
All washing
Over the sill's sharp cliff
Followed by a torrent
Of “let-me-in!”
frantic pounding,
Tears from the middle east,
Migrating
Into various countries'
suspicious black holes,
Streaming steadily
Weary clouds forming
In great waiting lines
Around and around the globe
Around
And around
