16 Rounds and What Do You Got?

by JJ Johnson

Some people just hope to make he best of what they’ve got
But a black man's got a better shot of getting shot
Some people ask “why can’t we all just get along?”
Some people lived their whole lives here yet feel they don’t belong

You load sixteen rounds, what do you got?
Your last day older when the rounds get shot
One ton of led, another one’s dead
The ton on your shoulders is the bullet in your head

ReBorn of the water that the Son made whine
Buried the truth where the sun don’t shine
We lifted up a shovel and dug a 6 foot hole
Then the holy preacher said "God-bless his soul"

You load sixteen rounds, what do you get?
Another grave stone where another mother wept
Satan, don't you call him 'cause we all know
His life was taken 'fore his bell did toll

Shot in the back crossing the law-man’s line
Walkin’ from more trouble was his fatal crime
The tale of the tape proved that the cops were lyin’
But even guilty as sin can ya blame a cop for tryin’?

You load sixteen rounds, what do you get?
Another soul higher on society's debt
Satan don't you call to claim his troubled soul
Collected by a law-man with the spirit he stole

If you see him comin', you’re on the wrong side
Judgment ain’t your deal over those who died
Satan, don't you call him 'cause he ain’t here
His soul's already risen to the One you fear

You load sixteen rounds, what do you got?
Another ton loaded and another gunshot
Satan, came a callin' 'bout a year too late
The soul he should acquire fired 16 tons of hate

JJ, you've got the rhythm and adaptation down perfectly here. I'm not sure if you meant to say "whine" instead of "wine"?? Your message is strong and sobering. Thanks.
