If I am vague
It is because all the details
Of our affair
Are neither here nor there
If not completely lost in the mails
Which suits me fine
In the interim
As I would not have any line
I hand you
Be other than in the rough
And so all I want to say
Is that I quit my job today
The job of pleasing you
Which was tough
The toughest I've ever had
A job which I created from scratch
In which I served both
As employer and employee
Quit
Rather than fire myself
Which I have done
Myriad times before
Only to rehire myself again and again
As pleasing you
Was such an essential part of me
Which is a metaphor
Employer and employee
Cannot ignore
Canned myself
Only to re hire myself
Given I was the only employee
And the only one who would work
For such a pittance of wages
As I was willing to pay myself
And so
Who will work
If I don't?
Who will be the boss
If I am not?
To boss in me the vagaries
Most in need of pleasing you
Into becoming less quirky?
