Saturday

by Alison McKenzie

Saturday comes
With its sausage and pancakes,
Coffee sprinkled
In hues of nutmeg and vanilla;

Saturday stretches
To greet a grey autumn sky
In yawning tones
Of umber’d earth;

Saturday sighs
Paradigmatic contentment,
Essential repose
In the chaos of juxtaposed energies;

Saturday unifies
Every single breath
Of an endless calendar
Full of eternal turning.

Amen. One of my favorite days well described with a personal touch. I really like the innovative term "Paradigmatic contentment."
