Stay

by Barry Franklin

you protect me from the doorbell
I'll protect you from thunder
safe and warm, in the blanket you're under

the love in your little eye shines
staring at me from at my feet
I know... I know,
you want a treat

you run through the house
in circles to nowhere
you run for the fun
and not just to get there

content in my arms
with your head on my shoulder
just like a baby
how else would I hold her?

how can you be so small
but take up so much room in my heart?
there's so much that is good, with just one bad part

one day you'll leave
to the sky you'll fly away
I'll find a way to cope,
but for now...
just stay.

Positive, warm, fuzzy message here Barry. I like how it's hard to tell if it's an animal...woman...or baby you're talking about.
