(To Be) Rain

by Alison McKenzie

I'll be the rain any day
If it means I get to grow your garden.

I'll flood every dehydrated
Grain of sand,
Suspend time
On a cloud,
We won't know drought
In our world darling.

I'll liquefy for you
Gently, love.

We don't need
The destructive forces of hurricanes
To decimate our tomorrows.

Our home is made of granite,
And the Sun is busy
Baking us a new day.
