Dream Lover

by Chris Sorrenti

sleep
returns you to me often
gives freely
that opportunity
we'll never again have
during the day
sunshine's painful reminder
the illusion of the past
where our reality
forever cascaded away
from us

and when I'm with you
no words ever spoken
to be misconstrued
simply being together
enough to maintain the vision
its warm afterglow
reason to live
beyond daytime's emptiness
till again the night
my head and heart
filled with you

a poem close to my own heart...and emblematic of quite a few nights and dreams of my own, Chris...great posting!

Wow, this captures beautifully something similar to what so many of us have experienced at one time or another...gorgeous piece...
