Wind (A World Without Words)

by Alison McKenzie

Wind has always been there for me
When human language fails.

Luckily, I was taught
The language of air
Before I knew words myself,
Lying there in my crib,
With the window open
And no human touch
Waiting in the wings -
The Wind whispered
Enlightenment
Long before I could know
What absentee parenthood
Would mean to my world.

And everywhere I moved,
Wind was there
To remind me that
All souls are the same,
We all drink from the same well,
And we breathe.
We all breathe.

Beautifully stated. Haunting...but in a positive spiritual way, as I too have found it.
