The Triumvirate Explained by Chris Sorrenti
set in a circle – the symbol of God
three arrows and three crosses
reflecting how man and woman are created in his image
three beings in one
Man in reality – Man in fantasy – Man in the spirit
Woman in reality – Woman in fantasy – Woman in the spirit
three arrows pointing upward to signify evolution -
our journey among and toward the stars
three crosses pointed downward to signify roots
all connected within the circle
by an emblem of Peace and one of Christ

Author's Note: In the early years of my writing (1973-1977), I would always sign off my poems with a poetic trademark, which I called a triumvirate. In the dictionary the word triumvirate is defined as ruled or governed by three, or a union of three. This symbol combined previously created symbols and their related meanings, as a way of representing myself and other human beings, in body, mind and spirit. The practice was abandoned in 1978 when I began to use typewriters and eventually write poems directly into computers.
