What They Called Us Back In The Day by Philip F De Pinto
It would have been a good day
Back in the day
To remain in bed as the saying goes
Except he was homeless and the thought
Of remaining in bed which was a park bench
Was warming yet out of the question
Given the billy club that was
Egging him in the ribs
To rise and shine and move on - you bum!
That is what they called us back in the day
When they were having a good day
You should have heard what they called us
When they weren't
Then once risen
How would that billy club know
How impossible a bed
It was to make
Given he aka the bum
Slept in sheets of snow
Try making those
When you rise
It will frustrate your billy
To dickens if not surprise

Posted by June Labyzon on 03/20/15 at 03:49 PM The last stanza put a big smile on my face...I love the way you play with words...throw out innocence which is in truth usually not so innocent. Thanks, Philip, I love this |
