Resurrection by JJ JohnsonThe empty armor of a Knight rusts near shackled bones stripped bare
Cast off by a lonely man who lived to love no one
He begged the Lord, promised service for the hand of one so fair
To have and forever hold, to make his empty life undone
A tomb lies silent as pain shakes the walls with echoes
A light cuts through darkness bleeding dust from dried up tears
Streaking the thighs of innocence in endless dirty rows
With memories of monsters that haunt her through the years
Sadness cries out from a grave not dug for one so young
There is forgiveness for the broken soul to rise up from this hole
A prayer refuses to die in silence, refuses to go unsung
A white feather pure as the snow falls to melt upon her soul
Sacrificed to save her life and rise to be reborn
The feather gone, left the angel without the gift of flight
A small gift to give that he would gladly never mourn
As the fallen Knight rose to one knee then asks to share her fight 01/30/2015 Author's Note: If there is one thing I have never understood about this website is why we can’t post responses to comments. It is allowed on other sites I post poems including facebook and deepundergroundpoetry.com so why not here? This poem is a true story told in metaphors and imagery. JJ
