Late on a Winter's Sun

by Alison McKenzie

I am a late blossom,
Appearing one early afternoon
In the middle of an
Unusually warm winter.

I, hungry,
Waited for Sun's seduction.

But the evening fell too soon.
Frost was the only cloak
In my size,
So I wore my demise,
And never made that debut -

That old Sun,
A fickle flourish.

a lovely ode, Alison, with that superlative line.....frost was the only cloak in my size.
