Feathers From the Sky by JJ JohnsonWhere do falling feathers come gently spinning from?
From birds in flight too high for me to see?
Perhaps angels fallen so far that now they are beneath me
Or did they get caught up in the turmoil of a storm blowing out at sea?
Could be a message in a bottle that finally broke free
Or metaphors that were hastily sent to rescue me
How do they find me through the vastness of the sky?
Did some force direct them to my ever watchful eye?
Or was it just coincidence to find them where they lie
The loneliness of their journey sadly makes me want to cry
For I know the silent ending to which each lost one will die
When life no longer inspires them with the will to fly
