Depressed People

by Lewis Mitchell

Sometimes depressed people crumble. It's not a choice, we don't mean to do it but we're sick and the occasional meltdown is unstoppable.

Sometimes depressed people mumble. Instead of telling you we need you, we retreat into ourselves forgetting our silence leads to the inevitable.

Sometimes depressed people stumble. We don't want to fall on our faces but sometimes our lives feel impossible.

We will love you with all our heart and want to tell you all our problems from the start. But we'll push you away even though we can't stand to be apart because we've turned fucking up a relationship into an art.

We're great when we feel good and abysmal when we don't, we're awfully afraid to lose you and hope with medication we won't.

When we escape from our dark bubble, we're always worth the trouble. Just remember that sometimes, depressed people crumble.
