This Newest Night by Chris Sorrenti
Melodies of sunlit power
race across the darkening sky
somewhere tonight a baby will cry
somewhere out of sight an old man dies
but here this eve the union is made
no spasm of tears or hint of graves
just we as we
as we should always be
mind in mind oh perfect coincidence
Rhythmic rifts of dawning might
hold back the tide of Satan’s fright
God is silent but then again
is he not the creator of Man?
and so men play their loudest voice
immortal rifts of dawning might
that turn the darkness into day
here God smiles this newest night
melodies of sunlit power
that race across the darkening sky
here this eve a baby cries
and we shall raise it well
