For Austin

by Michele Schottelkorb

Once upon a time you see
Love was right in front of me
Not in a car, train or tree
But in the form of a sweet baby

Born sixteen years from past, now
A blessing to his family, how
Beautiful boy, curly locks of wow
Came crashing from the tree branch bough

Austin, dear, your spirit shines
Erases hate and broken lines
You, dear boy, your family combines,
You, the first, your love defines.

Author's Note: I adore you, sweet Nephew. Today is your 16th birthday and I am so grateful to be your Aunt Michele.

A lovely birthday tribute. I have a grandson, Austin, who surely is dear to me. He is now married and in graduate school.
