Unuttered

by Alison McKenzie

The silence in this stretch,
This bit of journey
From a past not yet lived,
Stifles bells and formal attire,
The well wishers
And the gentle breeze of hope
Blown onto a vacant field,
Rings cast aside
For the sake of
Logic and fear.

Preventative measures result
In twisted wreckage
Long before an accident
Might be born.

Inexplicably wept,
Unbidden diamonds
Find their escape from eyes
That never even drank you.

Yet Wolfthorn finds me
On a wind that carries the ghosts
Of the tomorrows I will never meet,
How death tries to cheat
A life never tasted.

To say I miss you
Would be a grave injustice
To feelings that never even found
Sun nor earth nor air.

Apparitious moments dissolve,
And I grieve them, every one,
For the retrograde love
Suddenly homeless
On a full winter's moon.

Beautiful...lovely poetics/message.

Unuttered, perhaps, but very, very loud for those who choose to hear.
