X's and O's by Chris Sorrenti
You can be sure
When those X’s and O’s
Stop coming
It can only mean one thing
Doesn’t have to be bad
But it sure isn’t good
To spell them out in simple terms
No more kisses and hugs
Upon first glance
You might tell yourself
X’s and O’s aren’t such a big deal
Just a consonant and a vowel
In an email letter or card
But think again my friend
On second thought
What they represent
Is oh so much more profound
Chances are
That someone special
No longer sees you in the same light
The tell tale signs are
What other combinations of the alphabet
To you they no longer address
And in the way
He or she does or doesn't smile
Yes
To put it mildly
Or even bluntly
Depending where your heart may stand
You can be sure that
When those X’s and O’s stop coming
Captain Cupid’s gone down with the ship
