One More Gem

by Thomas K. Hunt

She picked me up when I fell down
She made me smile when I had a frown
She taught me the difference between right and wrong
She missed me every day that I was gone

I am one of four but no more special than three
We all got her love and that's the way it should be
Ninety two years she lived them with love
I know she's smiling from heaven above

She told a tale about a bed wetting lad
I couldn't shut her up and it made me mad
Now it's out there forever they'll never let it go
Sure to be mentioned in my eulogy by Eppolito

She got into the brownies that got her high
She laughed all night and didn't know why
She love all my friends and they all loved her back
That's not just a story it's a matter of fact

Yes heaven just received another mother
The place is over run with them
Saint Peter gave his welcome one more time
Yes heaven just accepted one more gem

I'm very sorry for your loss, Thomas. Your poem speaks of love and humor shared in many ways. I really like the "one more gem" idea.

Sorry for your loss, but equally happy for your joy--which is truly apparent.
