A Peek At - Thirst

by Alison McKenzie

His words contained her.
Parched, she swallows
Rationed adoration.

I like playing with the emphasis on "contained" and then on "her" in that first line. "Rationed adoration" is such a sad thought and fits the thirst idea perfectly. Lots of punch in this short piece.

Brief and poignant. Intense emotions packed in few words.
