Currents

by Christopher J Davidson

Take me down to the river bank
I have got someone greater thank
Lay me down in the river bed
Let the rolling water wash over my head

Oh, pray! Oh, pray!

Drive me down to the southern bay
Cause my head is spinning with the things you say
Brick the gas and lock the doors
It was a good long run but I can't take it anymore

Float away…

In the current's flow
In the tidal wash
Where the currents go
In the tide's song

Take me down to the water's edge
Tie me up and throw me in over my head
Every second fast is a minute long
And as I sink I know I would have been much stronger if I had…

Run Away…
If I had run away…

In the current's flow
In the tidal wash
Where the currents go
In the tide's song

I like this poem a lot. It speaks strange and wonderfully.
