October Mornings 1 & 2 by Sandy M. Humphrey10/02/2014
A rain kissed fall morning said hello
as I stepped off the porch
fumbling with the truck keys
in the darkness of way to early
to be up and leaving
I recalled waking to the sound
of thunder and then Bob Seger
is singing in my head before
I even turn the radio on
It is going to be a program
your own BEATS tunes kind of day
and it is only Thursday
The truck goes straight at the
stop sign instead of turning
towards HWY 62
Apparently it knows if you go
through the Drive Thru at Paradise
Early there is no waiting
a few minutes delay
two dozen glazed from Paradise
(best donuts ever)
and I am on the turnpike singing
with my tunes
V8 Fusion Energy riding shotgun
and the day is smelling sweet
Hope we can keep this feeling going
May you find your drive thru
Paradise to make your day.
10/03/14
Blessed with the perfect hand dipped
backdrop as only natures true artist can do
lacy trees silhoutte against the peach,
pink blue of the crisp clear sky
I imagine in God's eye we are tiny
red tail lights on the blacktop
ribbon curling and winding through
a colorless landscape as the sun
gently rises
Yet He know us all by name
and he hears all our whispered
thank yous for this morning
for all the joys He bestows,
still pouring more love into our
wanting hearts
He hears every sigh of hurt and pain
whether we speak or not and seeks to
relieve us of our worries and illnesses
I know not how many of my fellow travelers
choose this morning drive time hour to
converse with our maker
But I believe He provided me
with this opportunity and
more one on one time
just so I coud say Thank You Jesus
God even when I don't show it
or say anything I know every sunrise
Is You! 10/03/2014 Author's Note: My Summer 2014 was one emotional rollercoaster and our lives were sent into a tailspin and we found ourselves starting over in some areas again. God did provide, friends and family came through, and I became a commuter back and forth to my job. Leaves time for retrospection, prayer and poetry.

Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 10/10/14 at 03:50 PM Wonderful poem. Enjoyed the "scenery" and very much the faith expressed. God is good all the time. |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 10/11/19 at 05:49 PM Terrific images in these two poems. Good reminders and plans of how to greet our days and get our Mojo's in gear. Thanks and congrats on POTD! |
