Let's play the game of word association
Pulling numbers from the air
Aloft without a care
Feed the data into the computer
Set the rhythm and the tone
Creation à la mode
C'est une autre pair de manches
Quand on fait la dance
Hit the switch
Ignite the news
No we're not talking science
Bending numbers into names
Only unfolding a universe
In psychoactive innerspace
Let's play the game of word association

Author's Note: Every so often I post a poem that I think is really good, and yet poorly received by others. This is one of them. It’s been here at least a couple of times before. One of those poems that speaks precisely the way I want it to. The second opening piece, following Dance With The Madman, in This Masterpiece Of Madness. C’est une autre pair de manches, literally translated means ‘another pair of sleeves’, however in Quebéc, Canada, at least, it’s an expression meaning 'it’s a different story.' So that line and the one that follows together mean in a deeper sense it’s a different story when one doesn’t just dance, but actually creates the dance, one of the things we poets do with words.
