She Said Go by Philip F De Pinto
She said go
The way you came
Before I press you to my breast
And pray you never let me go
She said go
The way you came
Before your mother
Spanned her wings
And took you father in
She said go
The way you came
Before you come in me
All this she said to me
I in turn
Swooped my face
Down to her navel
To the papoose as yet to be
Go I said
Go the way you came
Before its too late
Go the way you came
I said
Before you take on the mantle
Of fame or shame
To go along with a name
Go - go I said
The way you came
Before your mother spans her wings
And takes me in
Then it will be too late to turn back
Given the heavy load
Given that road will be blocked by an avalanche
So go
And warn all the others
Be they sons or daughters
Or something entirely nondescript
To go back the way they came
Before I kingdom come
Before she spans her wings
And takes a potential father in
Then it will be too late
Not to take on the mantle of fame or shame
To go along with a name
