To The Girl With The Long Brown Hair II by Chris Sorrenti
I know the time will come again
When the fates will play our cards
Like a night time soap opera
With a thickening plot
Where the actors are also the audience
I've never tried to fool myself
As to having a sixth sense
Only a strategist with an eye
For the probable and the possible
No matter how incredible
The story may sound
Even the distance from the beginning
To the ending
And all the flowers that we planted
Only seemed to get uprooted
Unintentionally by us or by others
From episode to episode
The walls kept getting higher
With any ladders that we hoisted
To catch fire
As all around
The extras laughed
Scoffing at our production and direction
Telling us to bury the script
Unbelieving success
Could still be found between the lines
Of some new inspiration
If not in this world
Then maybe that of the next

Posted by Ken Harnisch on 08/08/14 at 04:59 PM Ah, having had my own bouts of romantic whimsy with a brown-haired girl, Chris, I can most certainly relate! |
Posted by Matthew Sharp on 08/09/14 at 04:36 AM beautiful... ive been a part of the redundant drama of trying to fight for love... fooling myself over and over for the sake of the fight... lovely:) |
Posted by A. Paige White on 08/09/14 at 06:55 PM I'm guessing this is for someone you really know and it's quite inspiring. I may have to try something similar. I hope she gets to read it. |
Posted by Paul Lastovica on 08/10/14 at 03:23 AM can't blame fools for trying; and daring to dream of another encounter, in another time. |
