Nonchalant by John HarderYou don't catch my eye
I ignore you
and just walk on by
But it's all an act
I've got you there
but what's this I see?
Your skin, so fair
the softness in your hair
I pretend not to care
What could this be
through the corner of my eye
Are you looking at me?
This plan has gone awry
What do we have here
You would approach one as I?
I find it absurd
How you draw near
You just want to talk
I don't care what you say
Irrelevant jargon
I wish you'd go away
Perhaps I'll care soon
A missed opportunity
while staring at the moon
It's all a dull haze
I just walk past
with my nonchalant gaze
10/17/2000 Author's Note: Another oldie I decided to revamp and post.

| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 08/24/14 at 02:20 AM I like this, John. Playful in an almost Dr. Seuss kind of way, but very cleverly written. As much fun to read as I hope it was to write. :) |
