was you was me

by Philip F De Pinto

The first truth I saw go by me

Like a young girl skipping rope was you

The first lie I ever saw coming my way

Like a freight train was me

The truth and the lie that would collide

Lay side by side

Have their tete a tete - their so called smooching hour

Before the truth rose from the wreck

Absconded from my view

And the lie

That remains immobilized

Albeit ensconced within myself

Scratching the walls like rats whistling

You still cared
