Speed Jive

by Chris Sorrenti

Hey! What you gonna do with the rest of your life?
Afterall, you’re not getting any younger...or prettier,
unless it’s wisdom used to calibrate the depth of that mirror.

Dead end job dragging you down, creditors reaching out
from the telephone, but their sting quickly dissipates
in the rush of life.

And despite the trials and tribulations, you’ve got Destiny
bouncing in the palm of your hand. You know who you are,
where you’ve been, but where and who are you going to be?

Daydreaming never felt so good, the food of thought
never tasted better, and though it seems like only yesterday
you were catapulted out of the womb,
now you’re racing towards thirty at unprecedented speed.

Pertinent questions especially for those in their twenties.

This hit way closer to home than I'd like to admit. Seriously. And the copyright on this thing extends back further than my own life.

Don't we all rush through life and then at some point stop and look back to pick a day or an hour and recall it looking to see what the impact was on our life. Really great write.
