Iraq Dream by Jon-Jacob F DealYears ago, I had this dream:
I was in Iraq
In the spacious dining room
Of an elegant restaurant
High in a skyscraper;
The walls were tinted glass.
In the pink-orange sunset light
I looked down through them and saw
The tan architecture of a peaceful city
Modern cars gliding silently;
People going about their lives.
A young boy was sitting next to me
At the long table
And I told him that
It wasn't all that long ago that
I had wished, but never dreamed
That a moment like this
Would one day be possible.
And in his smiling face
I saw that the faces of the dead
Were also smiling back at me
And I was happy. 06/14/2014 Posted on 06/14/2014 Copyright © 2024 Jon-Jacob F Deal
