The One by Chris Sorrenti
for Moncton and the Mounties
June 2014
If I could write a single poem
To protest all the injustice in the world
Then this would have to be the one
Otherwise there'd be no end to the writing it seems
Up at all hours of the day and night
And for what purpose would it truly serve?
If I had to write but just one poem
To point out all the lunacy in the world
Then I guess this is the one
Otherwise there'd be no end to my own suffering
And yet how can I turn away?
My own life good in almost every regard
And as the world already knows
How unjust and insane it truly is
Does it really care what I say and think???

Posted by Ken Harnisch on 06/12/14 at 12:23 AM some of us care deeply, Chris..and i say this as a native American whose own record of tragic senseless violence - 74 school shootings alone since Sandy Hook - is nothing to be proud of. Keep talking, Chris. Keep shouting. Some of us hear you very clear. |
