Lost in the Dark after Ten by Kristina Woodhillif the ten best movies
played the ten best songs
made the ten best actors
fix the ten worst wrongs
race their ten best cars
toward red sunsets' bests
while their sidekick gals
heaved their ten best breasts
or was that two
maybe three
I dunno
who can see
for the glare of the tens
counting up what's a best
hotels
motels
great looks
new books
which dogs bark most
which bars must boast
and jobs, oh, jobs
for the top ten hires
with their ten best, ten best
islands to retire
and while these tens' raters
sift life's baggage
one came up
i'm sure from great thoughtage
with the ten best words
in the english language
for the poets in the room
I'll bet you ten, then wink
that you all find a line
to insert “rinky-dink”
one of these nights
on the dark side of ten
I know I'm going to snap,
lose my cool, knuckles in
take my ten best fingers
wrap a great big ball
of bests intertwined
with bests one and all
i'll take one for the team
with my ten best grins
bowl them down the alley
at ten fixed pins

Posted by George Hoerner on 05/11/14 at 08:47 PM Yes, well who decides those 'ten best'. I've never quite known. We should look around for the ten best today because it changes tomorrow. And who is willing to vote as the distance of time seems to make us change those thoughts. Nice write lady.
Posted by Paul Lastovica on 05/12/14 at 02:18 AM up-vote, down-vote; i'm not one follow a trail of crumbs set out by ten-count enthusiasts.
Posted by Jody Pratt on 05/13/14 at 04:11 AM This is pretty funny to think about. Why are humans obsessed with round figures? Ironically this poem comes at a time when the internet is teeming with "top 9 bla bla bla" and "26 best himmidy himmidy" and "14 things not to baaaaahhh"'s all over the place. Best 10 might be a thing of the past.
