My Love Was An Engine Who Kept Going In Reverse by Jared OrlandoI loved her because she tasted like metal
Her body was a pile of old rusted car parts
When you are used to nothing but honey
You start begging for kisses tart and bitter
I found her tucked away in a scrapyard
One arm reaching out through the rubble
It was her bent smile and broken eyes
The chips and scrapes of polish on her nails
She shook off a year of dust in a second
And with her lips parted and cracked
Her hair dropping about her clavicle bones
I studied her like an auto repair manual
I laid her down lighter than carbon fiber
My fingers dancing on her leather skin
She was putting herself together slowly
Finally comfortable not being in neutral 05/08/2014 Posted on 05/08/2014 Copyright © 2024 Jared Orlando
