Nerdlust

by Johnny Crimson

There were times
we cared about science
as silence crept
softly up the stairs

as it spread slow
through the cracks
beneath the doorway and covered
our mouths like a haze.

You helped me pour
the vinegar inside the volcano
and reassured me that Mrs. Cramson
would give us a solid A.

As it erupted
the floorboards shook like hormones
and I began to harken back
to a time before we formally met

when I followed your sister
like a hawk
through the alleyways
keeping my eye on her pink jansport

and she came to a stairwell
where the two of you sat
and spoke quietly about anatomy
before sharing a sisters kiss.
