Oneness by Michael DefriesWhen we look into the gaze of distant skies,
we see the sky, as empty as the wind; across our heat;
cooling us off.
We think we are separate from the nature of the earth,
yet the divide, between the flesh and sky, are no more
than the same, beyond what has no limit.
There are no states; only that we think there are;
our mind, knows no perceptions of freedom
beyond our own thoughts.
Pervading the thoughts, of what is simply, not existing;
but that we think we are;| merely that our flesh is the earth,
and the wind is no more, than simplicity across our ocean. 02/22/2014 Posted on 02/22/2014 Copyright © 2025 Michael Defries

| Posted by Gail Wolper on 02/24/14 at 04:11 AM This is a beautiful poem and I believe I know what you are getting at. I would love to see you edit it so that there is no repetition of 'skies' in the first stansa and of 'thought' in the last two. It has a bit of a jerky rhythm, but I believe that works for the subject. Well done! |
