Between Sips of Coffee

by Jared Orlando

The way your nails look against
your favorite coffee mug every morning
The way you can’t sit still and forever fidget
switching the way your legs are crossed
The way one of your eyes blinks making you look
as though your mind is taking pictures
The way you force your hair behind your ears
when you hear something beautiful
The way you set fire to my insides
by just breathing in between words
The way you talk about the change in weather
in such a profound, but cliche, way
The way you bite your chapped lips
when your thoughts are spinning backwards
The way your freckles seem to multiply in front of me
I want to gather them together and kiss them
The way you pull your shirt down
your body moving distantly underneath
The way you drive me crazy begins every morning
between sips of coffee

Really like the sensuality of this piece, and how it ends with the title as the last line. Quite effective...evocative, Jared.

ahh this had me. It's actually something I wish a guy would think about me between sips of coffee haha! No such luck, but I enjoyed reading this. Its amazing what your mind can do when you are in love.:) Pretty and made me a little jealous hehe!
