i guess that when you come right down to it
or more precisely we
when you get past all those end of the day targets
past the having said that
and the blah
and the blah
and the blurp
and three bags full and more on the way
it’s a thin line that makes between this
and all we have defined
with words like these
there aren’t enough
or maybe too many
they’re all the wrong size today
and the colour is off
or something is missing
is lost
why do we put all these impotent words
into our incomplete sentences
flavour of the day for novelty
piling on obscurity and innuendo
obfuscation in the name of clarity
as if there were deep meaning within our shells
so yeah
what do you mean
close time now
end of the day
three bags full
no more interruptions
one more thing
come sister tallyman
i love you
i need a quiet hug
As someone who's only just begun to read your work, Amos, I like everything about this. The disciplined construction/vocabulary, playful yet serious message, fine "SOS' ending at the end to close it up, just in time for Valentine's Day.
