This is just a test
Sheet in front of
Me imprinted by ink and
Light covering body
Mind and soul
Translucent
Transparent and yet opaque
What I feel kept hidden by sentient
Pounds of flesh.

All too often we hide our real truth from ourselves.

if the eyes are the mirror to the soul as it is purported, then it is not so much a matter of concealment by the flesh, but rather a matter of keeping our eyes shut or donning eye patches. Better to be thought blind, than having something to conceal, like inner workings, tantamount to soul, which is tantamount to a poem which we can't conceal no matter how many orifices we seal.
