Angel Wings (Voyages IV)

by Elizabeth Shaw

To Whom it May Concern;

Should you by chancery part and be parcelled
epistaxis to the Superior Court of New Jersey
please place this ring
of used tampons
top of the morning on head rat that inspired them;

And judge not yea when flares go off
from the prisoner to other angel informants
how the play of diamond's shadow and light -
mice crawl up their faces as bludgeoned;

Stop watch
a Victorian turbine flake
wind riddled with glass leaves carpe diem
then I'll tell you how long
delivery buoy
you got to high tail bottleneck to freedom;

Yet these are THEIR scrolls
in your defense -
all I did was recycle them;

Typeset in stone and stamped RETURN
FOR DEPOSIT all the decoys they mailed out;

That single parents
filed thin as a sliver
in a who owes who blood bank
might gelatinous boil a box
of silk threads underwater
by employing the red ink that soaked them;

Feet whisper web hollows and open keyholes
for other threadbares in the clink
to link - drip down the noses
whilst slapping the fence posts
in the name of justice - cheeks with a fresh coat of paint!

your incredible intelligence and wit and crisp artistry is clearly showing and telling and perfectly illustrated here, and I am amazed and dazzled to no end, and neither do I see an end to my bedazzleamazement, now or ever.
