A Queen's Gambit, and Death's response

by Dorian Black

Her pawns step in turn
meagerly posed
knowing they were placed
to be disposed.

A dragon sighs,
his move replies,
" Come little bishop,
meet your demise."

The bishop responds
headlong to check.
Instead of desponding;
he risked his neck.

Black's Knight draws sword
to hear her sing;
a sacrifice made
to protect his king.

A clashing of titans
the bishop attacks
the knight shows his neck
embracing collapse.

Black's Queen screams revenge,
"He's poisoned the well!"
She draws back her blade,
the bishop is fell.

The battle continues,
but the end is neigh.
White's Bishop advanced
on a rookies lie.

Although I seldom play anymore, as a long time Chess gamer, I really enjoyed your poem Dorian. Thanks for sharing this. :)
