stalking the dot

by Maria Francesca

my human's a good one -
well-mannered and sweet;
her softly clad lap makes an adequate seat

she catches on quickly -
she learns what she's taught
but I wish she'd get rid
of that little red dot:

that little red dot
that runs round the room -
one day it will meet
with its well-deserved doom

it thinks it will beat me -
I swear it will not;
one day I will murder that little red dot!

my life is quite lovely
my world is in tune
I snack in the mornings
then slumber 'til noon

I'm never too hungry,
too cold,
or too hot -
it all would be perfect
except for that dot

that little red dot
that darts round the floor -
I chase it until I can't run anymore

it thinks it outsmarts me
but it will be caught -
one day I will murder that little red dot!

Author's Note: I love that laser pointer...not sure my cat agrees.

Excellent way of conveying this, through your 'cat's eyes.'...and mind. And having two of my own, with my own laser pointer, one which goes crazy for it, sure can relate. :) Thanks for the well worded reminder.
