Who thought that this
Purpose you seek
Could be such a missed concept
A remnant of a
Lost society left
Lodged in your pretty
Little eyes
Protruding out the back
Of your head as you roll
On your face in the middle of
The night
They were just lies
Just lies
They lied to you
Feeding these ideas
Of glory and a greater good
But no
I do not actually think you are
Missing out
Just playing out the part
Of the misunderstood
Because it is easier than
Taking a leap
Playing it safe behind a
Rotting smile
After all what’s better than
The surprise pity party
They have for you down the hall
Just know that this is that
Which is holding you back

wonderfully instructive ode. wish I had a penny for all the lies told in this world, just in one day. not really. I couldn't live with myself, if I spent even a one. that's the truth. if the world made its living telling the truth, it'd be poor. for sure.
