Explorations

by Shannon McEwen

Lovely twilight shines
From hand to hand
Where words form
To make sweet sound

The hourglass seemingly
Slows the sand
A curious soul wonders
What she’s found

Every word lingers
Before it slowly soaks
Into every neuron
That sensually spreads

Turns to what imagination
First provokes
Emotions then weave
Their sticky threads

Before soft lips slip
From hers to mine
Spoken words
Slowly
Cease to matter

Bodies fit
In curiously excellent design
Senses take flight
And brilliantly scatter

Life shines
From beautifully set eyes
Left completely
Undone
With her
Contented cries
