Exhaustion wrestles with rainclouds

by Shannon McEwen

Sitting in this ever darkening room
Waiting for the lightening silver flash
Listening to the rain drip its gloom

Exhaustion begun in a mother’s womb
Living the chaos yet waiting for the crash
Sitting in this ever darkening room

Over my head the black clouds loom
Mingle with salty wetness on my lash
Listening to the rain drip its gloom

Hoping for the light of day to bloom
Where happiness wins the steady clash
Sitting in this ever darkening room

Sweep the cobwebs with the broom
Strength rebounds from a secret stash
Listening to the rain drip its gloom

Life arisen from this sacred tomb
Old insecurities swept out with the trash
Sitting in this ever darkening room
Listening to the rain drip its gloom
