creep

by Timothy Wilson

Fall into love
And slip out of consciousness
take every pill
until you feel delusional enough to smile
read every book
And call yourself wise
beat up a child
and act like you're tough
Boast about
Sing aloud
and flash all of your charm
Call upon the media
and tell them how wholesome you truly think you are
live as you wish
and do what you please
as long as the church doors stay unlocked
The devil can confess his sins away
in his own mind
but at the end of the day
you're a monster
and the saints haven't spoken a word about you
just silent prayers
you're undeserved
silent prayers

A fair number of people like this, sadly. It's hard not to judge, for sure. I like the steady beat to this as it hammers it home.
