Mornings

by June Labyzon

The light coming through this window
can't replace the darkness.
"I have a little shadow"
The poem of my childhood
bounces off he walls
and ceilings as your
shadow continues to cling
viciously to my body.

...shadowed in darkness is such a vivid image, and the eerie music makes the scene. I have been where the speaker is in this poem, wanting to erase the light, not turning to its source, there are no shadows facing the light, but they exist. It is the turning's all it takes, but the knowing. Complete darkness will find us all. And does in more ways than one, as you've so aptly illustrated.

with so few strokes, so many impressions are permitted to live. this poem is alive as any you've given life to. and those last two lines are as alive as any you've breathed life in.
