Chekov's Teeth

by Bertram Sparagmos

My only love
You came into my den
Because my fur is warm
And I feel safe
When my predator's eyes face outward
I hunt for you
I bring food
You sleep, curled up next to me

Finally
I ate your heart
It beat for both of us
Exhilarating
But unnecessary
Wolves, in the end, are wolves
My only love

Author's Note: If there's a gun on the wall in the first act, by the third it should be fired.

Yow! One needs to read the signs. Well done.

You ate your only love? Instinct vs. cherish, I think. Expertly condensed language - got the entire picture with minimal language. Nice!
