On Becoming

by Kristina Woodhill

A wonderment
The blue and red bear

Sculpted
Side by side

By its smoothly glazed
Smaller off spring

Crimson heads and shoulders
Gradiantly flowing into
Torsos and bulk of deepest blue

I had never seen a blue and red bear

And yet
It was there

Some mind's eye
Perceiving

Something I had not imagined

It bade me stare
This undecided bear

I thought

How hot then cold
How odd yet bold

Either nor
Neither or

Quite settled
In its enduring

Dichotomy

Funny the things that grab and hold our attention...and don't go away lightly when they do. I like this a lot Kristina
